Environmental Protection:
The CYDSA Integral System for Environmental Administration, focuses on improving the company’s efficiency while protecting the environment and safeguarding the biodiversity around each manufacturing site. Maintaining operational compliance with very strict environmental standards represents a condition applied relentlessly at each of the Group’s working entities.
The principles of ISO-14001-2004 support the Integral System for Environmental Administration. Currently, five of CYDSA’s eight production facilities received this recognition, a certification by independent auditors of system compliance with all applicable international environmental standards.
A significant Group’s effort involves specific programs to continuously reduce Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions. While all these projects contribute to the world effort diminishing Climate Change effects, one received recognition as among the best in Latin America.
A sample of CYDSA’s proactive approach towards environmental protection, involves the suspension of chlorofluorocarbons (CFC’s), manufactured by CYDSA’s subsidiary Quimobasicos, a producer of refrigerant gases since 1963. On September 9, 2005, the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, Quimobasicos ceased production of its CFC product line, almost five years prior to Mexico’s original commitment to the Montreal Protocol.
The voluntary commitment to exceed environmental standards represents another relevant effort. All eight CYDSA’s plants received the Clean Industry Certification awarded by the Mexican Ministry for Environment and Natural Resources, and Quimobasicos received the Environmental Excellence Award granted by the President of Mexico.
Collaborating with endangered species protection groups represent another element of CYDSA’s environmental commitment. The Group supports the very successful Hawksbill Turtle conservation program in Mexico’s southeast region.
